P8 - 1986 (Starlight)
Release Date: November 14th, 2008
Reviewed: 3.5/5
User Rating: 4.2/5

1986 - what a year! Mexico 86 World Cup, the Chicago Bears, A-Ha, the C64 and Top Gun, all leading the mainstream for this year of creation. Any track taking that name has a lot to live up to! Bravely taking on the challenge is P8, hailing from Quebec in Canada, on the Italian, Starlight label.

The original mix is full of energy with all the basslines and stabs you'd expect from a track titled after a year in the '80s. A lovely arpeggio swirls throughout. Definitely a big big dancefloor number.

The Mooka remix has a nice use of the 1986 spoken sample as well as cool drums and a steepling bassline. The arpeggio is prominent as well - perhaps more trance than progressive in parts, but definitely full of energy and atmosphere.

Both mixes of "1986" are really smart - perhaps not something for the more underground jock, but definitely very dancefloor friendly and listenable.
