Daniel Mahuad and Bruce Gibbons - Daybreak EP (Really Really Big Records)
Release Date: November 10th, 2008
Reviewed: 3.5/5
User Rating: 3.9/5

Ukraine based imprint Really Really Big Records releases its 10th, by way of the ”Daybreak EP” from US based DJ/producers Daniel Mahuad and Bruce Gibbons.

The title track Daybreak is a smart progressive number, a nice tune to bridge between a warm up and a more peak-time set. The atmospheric and melodic side of the track would also work well for a podcast or radio broadcast.

Secondly we have The World and Dreams, an epic name for a cool driving progressive number. A warm arpeggio simmers in the background for a while, whilst providing both energy and warmth.

Lastly, Daniel Mahuad, provides a solo effort, Captivated Theory, for our listening pleasure. This is the most metallic track of the release with some house elements to it. Slightly different in flavour to the other 2 tracks, but good nonetheless, surely a dark horse for track of the EP, especially with the rising atmospherics and old school bassline.

Russia and Ukraine seem to be a hotbed of progressive house activity at the moment, with producers like Mango, Arthur Deep and Mike Brin, alongside labels like Silk Digital and Carica, putting out quality digital progressive. With this release as evidence, you might be adding the name of Really Really Big Records to that prestigious list pretty soon too.
