Various Artists - Fall Particles 2008 (Full Length Album) (Proton Music)
Release Date: October 24th, 2008
Reviewed: 4.5/5
User Rating: 4.4/5

Proton Radio has been well established as being at the forefront of progressive and underground radio for a number of years and, in recent times, rightly decided to diversify and began running their own label. Recent releases have come from the likes of Derek Howell, Moonbeam, Micah, Pole Folder and Matt Rowan. Here, Jay Epoch presents some tracks that will be featured in his Particles Proton show in the coming months. 8 tracks in all are on the EP from the likes of Sam Fraser, Astronivo, Max Demand and Gerwin Koudijs. On the face of that alone, this promises to be a strong release.

Sam Fraser opens up the release with a very solid contribution called I'd Rather Be Red, something for an early set and to build the mood. Following that is Astronivo's My World - a smart tech house number with some nice bass stabs and bleeps. Third up is Lom's Travel the World - a steepling progressive number which rolls along, definitely a track at home in a club as well as on the radio. The exotic Jaksa Pavicevic concludes the first half of the EP with his Lemons track. Again a very solid track, good production and soundscapes mean that this track is definitely in keeping with the rest of the EP. Time for the second half!

Pacco & Ruby B's Space Walk kicks off the second half with its melodies and driving bassline. This track is a little more trance based than the first 4, however it isn't a bad thing as Space Walk definitely hits the mark. 5th off the bat we have Chris Gray's Machine Language - a driving prog number and a very useful contribution to the overall picture of this package. Gerwin Koudijs & Dustin H give us the penultimate track of the release mysteriously called IC. This is perhaps my least favourite track, although it is by no means poor, just not quite as good as the rest!!! Last and by no means least Max Demand provides us with Posiedon - a neat and tidy prog number.

All in all, a new, fresh concept to release 8 tracks featured (or to be featured) on a radio show, and to release the tracks on a label affiliated with the radio show is even better. I expect lots of support for the tracks on the release, and some healthy sales figures too. Nice one!
